Removal PROCEDURE Adjustable type linkage 1. Loosen locknut 9 and screw adjusting washer 8 onto the threaded rod to slacken clutch cable 7. 2. Remove clip 2 from the lower end of clutch cable 7. 3. Disconnect the upper end of the clutch cable from clutch pedal 24. 4. Pull cable 7 together with sheath 11 toward the engine compartment. Self-adjusting linkage 5. Turn toothed segment 22 forward and lock it with retainer 29. 6. Remove the clutch cable. Warning From 1988, a damper is fitted to the upper end fitting of the clutch cable (see illustration Damper on upper end fitting, fitted from 1988). Therefore, a sealing ring is not fitted.

Models from 1988 7. Depress clutch pedal 23 several times until it stops. 8. Compress the cable sheath at the bracket on the transmission housing (see illustration

Clutch cable adjustment (models from 1988)). 9. Install bracket 1 and secure it with pin 2. 10. Remove clip 2 (see illustration Clutch release linkage (gearbox type 020)). 11. Disconnect the upper end fitting of the cable from the clutch pedal. 12. Pull cable 7 with sheath 11 toward the engine compartment. Installation PROCEDURE 1. Install the clutch cable in the reverse order of removal, noting the following. 2. Check correct fitting of guide bushing 6 (see illustration Clutch release linkage (gearbox type 020)) with rubber gasket 5, sealing ring 14, toothed washer 13 and end fitting 12. 3. Lubricate the exposed parts of cable 7 with universal grease. Adjustable type linkage 4. Adjust the clutch linkage (see subsection 4.3.4). Self-adjusting linkage 5. Adjust the clutch linkage by depressing the clutch pedal several times. Models from 1988 6. Pass the upper end fitting of the cable through the hole in the bulkhead and connect it to the clutch pedal. 7. Press the clutch pedal by hand and simultaneously pull the cable forward (perform with two people). 8. Compress the cable sheath and install bracket 1 (see illustration Clutch cable adjustment (models from 1988)), securing it with pin 2. 9. Install clip 2 (see illustration Clutch release linkage (gearbox type 020)). 10. Adjust the clutch linkage by depressing the clutch pedal several times.
