Winter tires should be purchased already mounted on suitable steel rims. This costs more at first, but saves money on remounting. Tire dealers often offer complete sets at favorable prices. Standard 6 J x 15 wheels are suitable for winter tires. Used wheels can also be purchased.


Alloy wheels can corrode, up to complete unserviceability, under the influence of road salt. Therefore, damage to their protective clear coat should be repaired as soon as possible. Anyone who uses alloy wheels in winter should check their condition each time the vehicle is washed.
