Wheels and Tires
Wheel bolts and wheels – a single unit
In this manual: Wheels and Tires
~1min read
Structurally, the wheel bolts and wheels form a single unit and therefore must not be used separately. The conical seat in the wheel bolt holes is precisely matched to the cones of the wheel bolts. Other cone shapes cannot guarantee a secure attachment of the bolt and thus of the wheel.
For wheels (steel and alloy) fitted and approved at Audi factories, only the so-called acorn-head bolt (part number 431 601 139 A) may be used. It can be recognized by the special recesses at the top of the bolt head. Different rules apply to rims purchased from a parts store. Wheel bolts from the appropriate manufacturer should be purchased!
