Dust Filter Replacement
Audi specifies replacement of the dust filter, which has been fitted as standard since August 1992, every 30,000 km.
PROCEDURE
Detach the rear engine compartment seal.
Open the rotary latch of the water-resistant cover between the engine compartment and the windshield.
Lift the water-resistant cover.
Release the two dust filter latches, lift the filter and disconnect the plug connector located on the back side.
Note: vehicles not equipped with a dust filter can be easily retrofitted. To do this, replace the air intake frame on the right side of the water-resistant cover under the windshield with a larger one that accommodates the removable filter element. This work requires removing the wiper arms. In addition, the connections between the frame and the body metal must be well sealed to prevent water from entering the heating system.

The dust filter (2) can be removed after removing the water-resistant cover (1) and releasing both latches (arrows).

On models with a 4-cylinder engine, the air conditioning compressor (arrow) is located at the bottom on the right side of the engine.
