Checking the oil level

  • Park your vehicle on level ground.
  • With the engine at normal operating temperature, run it briefly at idle, then switch it off.
  • Wait approximately two minutes.
  • Remove the dipstick. Wipe it with a clean cloth and reinsert it fully until it stops.
  • Then remove the dipstick again and check the oil level => fig. 222 or => fig. 223. If necessary, top up the engine oil.

Depending on driving style and operating conditions, oil consumption can be up to 0.5 litre/1,000 km. During the first 5,000 km, consumption may be even higher. For this reason, check the engine oil level regularly, preferably when refuelling and before any long journey.
