Natural leather
Audi is committed to preserving the authentic, natural character of leather.
General information
The range of leathers offered by Audi is very varied. It includes mainly nappa leathers and smooth leathers in different versions and colours.
The intensity of the colouring determines the appearance and feel of the leather. Thus, our nappa leather in natural finish, which provides very high climate comfort, still carries the "signature of the animal". This finish reveals small veins, scars, insect bites, creases and certain colour irregularities, which are all signs of the authenticity of the natural material.
The surface of nappa leather in natural finish is not covered by a pigmented protective layer, so it is somewhat more delicate. Particular care is advised, for example when children or animals are travelling in the vehicle.
Leathers treated with a more or less pronounced pigmented protective layer are more robust. They are more resistant and better suited to daily use. However, the characteristic marks of the natural product leather will no longer be visible, which does not, however, affect the quality of the leather.
Leather care
Due to the quality and particular properties of the leathers used (e.g. sensitivity to oil, grease, dirt, etc.), they must be treated with great care and maintained regularly. Dark-coloured clothing (especially when damp and when the dye is not of good quality) can transfer colour onto leather seats. Dust and dirt particles can rub into the pores, creases and seams and damage the surface layer of the leather.
Maintain the leather regularly or according to use
to which it is subjected. After a certain time, leather seats will develop a typical patina. This characteristic of natural leather is a sign of quality.
To keep natural leather in good condition for the entire service life of the vehicle, you should follow the instructions below:
Warning!
- Do not leave leather exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods to prevent discolouration. If the vehicle is parked in the sun for a long time, cover the leather seats to protect them from direct sunlight.
- Sharp objects on clothing, such as zip fasteners, eyelets and belts with sharp edges, can permanently damage the leather surface by leaving scratches and rub marks.
Note
- Use a care cream with sun protection and impregnating effect regularly and after each cleaning. This cream nourishes the leather, allows it to "breathe" better, makes it more supple and moisturises it. It also forms a protective layer.
- Clean the leather every two to three months. Remove dirt while it is fresh.
- Where possible, remove fresh stains immediately, such as ballpoint pen, ink, lipstick, shoe polish, etc.
- Also maintain the colour of the leather. Refresh faded areas as needed with a special colour cream.
