Removal and Installation of the Throttle Body

The throttle body consists of a front section for ASC+T adjustment and the main throttle body. For ASC+T, refer to the Anti-Lock Braking System section.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) and (2). Squeeze the wire retainer while doing so.
2. Close the ASC+T throttle lever (3) to relieve the cable nipple. Remove the nipple from the segment.
3. Remove the crankcase breather hose at the bottom of the intake hose.
4. Open the clamp (4) on the intake hose and remove the hose.

5. Remove the bolts at points (2) and remove the throttle body. Refer to the accompanying illustration.
6. Remove the screws (1) and remove the spacer.

* If damaged, replace the seal (3) and lubricate it with petroleum jelly or acid-free grease before installation.

8. Disconnect the throttle body heater coolant hoses at the throttle body. To do this, open the clamps.

* Place a container to collect the escaping fluid. Coolant must be disposed of in accordance with regulations.

9. Remove the bolts and remove the throttle body with the gasket. The gasket must always be replaced with a new one. Refer to the accompanying illustration.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the throttle body with a new gasket.
2. Secure the coolant hoses with clamps. Fill the system with coolant, refer to the Cooling System Coolant Replacement section. Coolant Freeze Protection Check. Visual Inspection of the Cooling System.
3. Connect the cable and adjust it, refer to the Throttle Cable Adjustment section.
4. Install the spacer and the ASC+T throttle body housing. Do not forget the gasket (1), see the illustration in the Removal subsection. Secure the intake hose.
5. Connect the ASC+T cable. With the cable in its initial position, the free play must be 0.5 - 1.0 mm. Otherwise, adjust the support.
6. Connect the electrical connectors. Make sure they lock into place.
7. Read the diagnostic trouble code memory. After repairing the faults, clear the memory.
