Physical limits of system operation

The operating range of the radar sensor and the automatic braking capability are limited. For example, two-wheeled vehicles are detected by the system later than passenger cars.

The system does not brake the vehicle if it is in your lane of travel.

Vehicles changing lanes

The system detects a vehicle changing lanes from an adjacent lane only when it has already fully entered your lane.

If a vehicle ahead suddenly moves into your lane, the system may be unable to restore the required distance by itself. The system cannot compensate for a large difference in speed between you and the vehicles ahead (for example, when you are approaching a truck). There is a risk of collision. If the system reliably detects a vehicle ahead, it prompts the driver to brake or take evasive action. A stationary obstacle, for example a vehicle stopped at a red traffic light or at the end of a traffic jam, may not be detected. To avoid an accident in such cases, your intervention is required.◄

The system also does not respond to oncoming vehicles.

Cornering behavior

The system reduces vehicle speed in a curve if the set speed is too high for negotiating it. However, it cannot predict curves ahead. Therefore, at the beginning of a curve, maintain an appropriate speed.

In a curve, the system may lose sight of or detect a vehicle ahead late, due to the limited field of view of its sensor.

At the beginning of a curve, the system may briefly react to a vehicle in the adjacent lane. The braking applied by the system can be overridden by briefly pressing the accelerator pedal. After releasing the accelerator pedal, the system becomes active again and regulates speed automatically.
