Suspension fasteners are critical components because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure may result in major service expense. New components must be installed with the same component numbers or equivalent components, if replacement is required. Do not use a replacement component of lesser quality or substitute design. Tightening values must be used as specified during reassembly to ensure correct retention of these components. Use washers that have an ID that is larger than the OD of the wheel stud serrations. Use enough washers (approximately four) to allow the wheel stud to fully seat against the hub flange. Some models may require a suitable press to remove studs instead of C-Frame and screw Installer/Remover.
Replacing a wheel lug stud on a Chevrolet Captiva involves several steps to ensure a safe and secure connection. Begin by safely lifting the vehicle using a jack and securely supporting it with jack stands. Remove the wheel that needs the lug stud replaced and set it aside. Next, remove the brake caliper and rotor to access the hub assembly. With the hub assembly exposed, use a hammer and punch tool to drive out the damaged lug stud from the hub. Insert the new lug stud into the vacant hole, ensuring it aligns properly with the other studs. Apply a few drops of thread locker onto the lug stud threads to prevent loosening over time. Use a stack of washers and a lug nut to pull the new stud into place, tightening the lug nut until the stud is fully seated against the hub.

Once the new lug stud is installed, reassemble the brake rotor and caliper, making sure everything is properly aligned and torqued to manufacturer specifications. Finally, remount the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to the recommended specifications. Conduct a test drive to ensure everything is functioning correctly and that the wheel remains securely attached.
