Program Type (PTY)

In addition to the station name, some FM radio stations also broadcast program type information.

The audio system supports reception and display of this information.

For example, programs may be of the following types:

CULTURE, TRAVEL, JAZZ, SPORT, NEWS, POP, ROCK, CLASSICS. Using the PTY function, you can directly select a radio station broadcasting programs of a specific type.

PTY-EON When a program type is selected and a search for a broadcasting station is started, the audio system will switch from the current radio station to a radio station with the selected program type.

If no station with the selected program type is found, a beep will sound and the “NO PTY” message will appear on the display briefly. The system will then return to the previously received radio station.

If, after a certain time, the received radio station or another station of the broadcast network starts broadcasting this program type, the audio system will automatically switch from the current radio station or from cassette/multi-disc CD mode to the radio station with the selected program type.

Turning the PTY function on/offPress the TR (PTY) button (13) repeatedly until the “PTY” indicator appears or disappears on the display.

When the PTY function is turned on, the last selected program type appears on the display briefly.

Selecting a program type and starting the search for a broadcasting station:

Press the << or >> button (8).

The current program type appears on the display.

If you need to select a different program type, press and hold the << or >> button (8) until the desired program appears on the display, orpress one of the 1 – 5 buttons (12) to select the program type stored under that button.

The selected program type appears on the display for a few seconds.

To start searching for a broadcasting station, press the buttonor (8).

The audio system will tune to the frequency of the first found radio station matching the selected program type.

Storing a program type under a radio station button:

Select the program type by pressing the << or >> button (8).

Press and hold the 1 – 5 button (12) corresponding to the desired station for more than two seconds.

The program type will be stored under the selected 1 – 5 button (12).

PTY language selection You can select the language in which the program type is displayed.

Press the MENU button (11).

Press theor(8) until the “PTY LANG” message appears on the display.

To select the language – German, English or French – press the << or >> button (8).

When the desired language appears on the display,press the MENU button (11) twice.
