SPECIFICATIONS

The steering wheel is adjustable for height and reach.

2 types of steering:

  • engine-speed-dependent variable power steering (flow-decreasing pump),
  • vehicle-speed-dependent variable power steering (constant-flow pump).

Vehicle-speed-dependent variable power steering

Vehicle-speed-dependent variable power steering is fitted only on ES9J4S engines.

Vehicle-speed-dependent variable power steering uses a constant-flow pump.

The variation in assistance is managed by the suspension ECU.

The higher the speed, the greater the assistance (higher flow).

The suspension ECU receives the vehicle speed via the CAN network.

The suspension ECU controls the solenoid valve on the power steering valve (2), allowing the steering assistance rate to be adjusted according to vehicle speed.
