Starting the engine
In severe cold (below -20°C), to aid starting, switch the ignition on for a few seconds before starting the engine.
Special feature when starting the engine at very low outside temperature (internal temperature -10°C): keep the clutch pedal depressed until the engine starts.
Petrol injection system
- Engage the starter without pressing the accelerator pedal.
- Release the key as soon as the engine starts.
Diesel injection system
Set the key in the ignition switch to the "Starting" position M and keep it there until the glow plug warning light goes out.
Turn the key to the "Starting" position D, without pressing the accelerator pedal. Release the key as soon as the engine starts.
LPG versions
Engine starting is always based on petrol:
- engage the starter without pressing the accelerator pedal;
- release the key as soon as the engine starts.
This is a system that automatically switches over from petrol to LPG operation.
When running on LPG, the fuel gauge may show a drop in fuel level and the on-board computer does not work.
Every 5,000 km driven on LPG, it is recommended to drive about 5–10 km on petrol.
To ensure proper system operation and prevent damage to the vehicle's electric fuel pump, always keep the tank filled with petrol to at least 1/4.
