Starting and driving

General notes

Vehicle maintenance

Vehicle maintenance is important, and it is worthwhile carrying out the checks and adjustments according to the "scheduled maintenance plan".

Tyres

Check the tire pressure regularly, every 4 weeks. If the pressure is too low, fuel consumption increases due to greater rolling resistance.

Unnecessary loads

Do not drive with an overloaded luggage compartment.

The weight of the vehicle (especially in city traffic) has a strong effect on fuel consumption and stability.

Roof rack/ski carrier

Remove roof racks or ski carriers immediately after use.

This accessory worsens the aerodynamics of the vehicle and has a negative effect on fuel consumption. For transporting very large objects, use a trailer instead.

Electrical consumers

Use electrical equipment only for as long as necessary. The rear window heater, auxiliary headlamps, windshield wipers and heater blower have a very high power consumption, and higher power consumption also increases fuel consumption (by up to +25% in city traffic).

Air conditioning

Using the air conditioning increases fuel consumption (by up to +20% on average). When the outside temperature allows, use the fresh-air vents instead.

Aerodynamic add-on parts

Using aerodynamic add-on parts that are not intended for this vehicle can worsen the aerodynamics and fuel consumption.
