Installing an ISOFIX child seat

The vehicle is fitted with the ISOFIX anchorage system, a new European standard that allows quick, easy and safe installation of a child seat.

The ISOFIX system allows ISOFIX child restraint systems to be installed without using the vehicle's seat belts, by fastening the seat directly to the three anchorages provided in the vehicle. Traditional child seats and ISOFIX seats can be mixed across different seating positions in the same vehicle.

To install an ISOFIX child seat, secure it with the special lower metal rings A, Fig. 56, between the seat cushion and the backrest of the rear seat, then attach the top tether strap (supplied with the seat) to the special anchor B, Fig. 57, behind the backrest of the seat, just behind the child seat. Traditional child seats and universal ISOFIX seats can be mixed.

Fig. 58 shows an example of a universal ISOFIX child seat for weight group 1, for reference only.

WARNING Fig. 58 is for installation reference only. The child seat must be installed in accordance with the instructions supplied with it, which must be read.

NOTE When using a universal ISOFIX child seat, only seats approved to ECE R44 “ISOFIX Universal” (R44/03 or later amendments) may be used.

For other weight groups, a specific-type ISOFIX child seat is provided, which may only be used if it has been specifically tested for this type of vehicle (see the list of vehicles supplied with the seat).

WARNING The rear centre seat (where fitted) and the front passenger seat are not suitable for fitting any type of ISOFIX child seat.
