Warning light Meaning
ABS SYSTEM FAULT

After turning the key to the ON position, the warning light comes on but should go out after a few seconds. The warning light comes on (in some versions a corresponding message also appears on the display) when this system is faulty. In this case the braking system remains fully operational, but the ABS system cannot provide proper performance. Take care and contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre as soon as possible.

PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG OFF

The warning light located in the centre of the dashboard comes on when the front passenger airbag is switched off. When the front passenger airbag is enabled, after turning the key to the ON position the warning light comes on for a few seconds, then should go out.

CAUTION

50) The warning light
also indicates possible faults of the warning light ; in that case it flashes for more than 4
seconds.

51) In such a case, the warning lightmay not indicate possible faults of the occupant protection systems. Before driving, contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre to have the system checked as soon as possible.

Warning light Meaning
EOBD/INJECTION SYSTEM FAULT

Under normal conditions, after turning the key to the ON position the warning light comes on but should go out just after the engine starts. If the warning light does not go out or comes on while driving, it indicates an imperfect operation of the fuel/ignition system, which may cause reduced performance, high emissions, unsatisfactory driving behaviour and high fuel consumption. In some versions a special message appears on the display. Under these conditions you may continue your journey, but avoid overloading the engine or driving at high speeds. Driving for a long time with the warning light on may cause damage: contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre as soon as possible. The warning light will go out once the fault is rectified, but the system will store this warning.

WARNING: On petrol engines, if the warning light flashes, the catalytic converter is probably damaged. If the warning light flashes, release the accelerator pedal and reduce engine speed until the light stops flashing; continue driving at a moderate speed, avoiding driving that may cause the light to flash again, and contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre as soon as possible.

CAUTION

24) If, after turning the key to the ON position, the warning light does not come on, or comes on or flashes while driving (in some versions together with a message on the display), contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre as soon as possible.

Warning light operationmay be checked with special equipment by traffic police officers. Observe the regulations in force in the country in which you are travelling.

Warning light Meaning
ESC SYSTEM FAULT

After turning the key to the ON position the warning light comes on but should go out after a few seconds. If the warning light does not go out or stays on while driving (in some versions a corresponding message also appears on the display), contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre. The warning light flashing while driving means the ESC system is intervening.

HILL HOLDER SYSTEM FAULT (for versions/markets where fitted)

After turning the key to the ON position the warning light comes on (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) in the event of a Hill Holder system fault, but should go out after a few seconds. In this case contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre as soon as possible. In some versions the alternative warning light will come on instead..

FIAT CODE SYSTEM FAULT (for versions/markets where fitted) The warning light comes on (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) to indicate a fault in the Fiat CODE system or, where fitted, the alarm system. Contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre as soon as possible.
PREHEATING SYSTEM FAULT / GLOW PLUG FAULT (Multijet versions) Glow plug preheating: after turning the key to the MAR position, the warning light comes on and should go off when the glow plugs have reached the required temperature. The engine can be started as soon as the warning light goes off.

WARNING If the ambient temperature is high, the warning light will come on only briefly and may not be noticed.

Glow plug preheating fault: the warning light flashes (in some versions together with a special message on the display), indicating a fault in the glow plug preheating system. Contact a Fiat authorised dealer as soon as possible.

DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (DPF) CLEANING IN PROGRESS (DPF-equipped Multijet versions only)

After turning the key to the MAR position, the warning light comes on but should go off after a few seconds. The warning light comes on steadily (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) to indicate that the DPF needs to be cleaned of accumulated pollutants (particulate matter) by a regeneration process.

The warning light does not come on every time the DPF carries out regeneration, but only when driving conditions require the driver to be informed. To switch the light off, keep the vehicle in motion until the regeneration process is complete. The regeneration process usually lasts about 15 minutes on average. Optimal conditions for completing the process are reached by driving at a speed of 60 km/h and engine speed above 2000 rpm. The warning light coming on does not indicate a vehicle fault, so there is no need to take the vehicle to a workshop.

CAUTION

52) The driver should always adapt driving style to road conditions, visibility, traffic and the applicable provisions of the Highway Code. It is possible to switch off the engine even if the DPF warning light is on; however, repeated interruption of the regeneration process may cause premature wear of engine oil. For this reason, it is recommended to always wait for the light to go out before switching off the engine, following the recommendations above. Do not complete DPF regeneration while the vehicle is stationary.

Warning light Meaning
GENERAL FAULT WARNING (for versions/markets where provided) The warning light comes on in the following circumstances: Speed limit exceeded: this warning light comes on when the set speed limit is exceeded, and a special message appears on the display.

Fuel cut-off system intervention: the warning light comes on (in some versions a corresponding message also appears on the display) when the fuel cut-off system intervenes or malfunctions.

Start&Stop fault: the warning light comes on when an anomaly is detected in the Start&Stop system (in some versions a special message also appears on the display and the icon ).

Parking sensor fault: the warning light comes on (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) when an anomaly is detected in the parking sensors.

Contact a Fiat authorised dealer as soon as possible.

Engine oil pressure sensor fault: this warning light indicates a fault in the engine oil pressure sensor (in versions where provided, a special message also appears on the display). Contact a Fiat authorised dealer as soon as possible.

iTPMS system fault: the warning light comes on (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) when an anomaly is detected in the iTPMS tyre pressure monitoring system. Contact a Fiat authorised dealer as soon as possible. If one or more wheels without a sensor are fitted, the warning light in the instrument cluster will remain on until wheels with sensors are fitted.

Rain sensor fault: the warning light comes on (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) when an anomaly is detected in the rain sensor. Contact a Fiat authorised dealer as soon as possible.

PARKING SENSOR FAULT (for versions/markets where provided) The warning light comes on (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) when a fault is detected in the parking sensors (in some versions the warning light) If the ambient
temperature is high, the warning light will come on only briefly and may not be noticed.
WATER IN DIESEL FUEL FILTER (Multijet versions) After turning the key to the MAR position, the warning light comes on but should go off after a few seconds. The warning light comes on when water is present in the diesel fuel filter (in some versions a special message also appears on the display).
EXTERIOR LIGHT FAULT (for versions/markets where provided) The warning light comes on if one of the following lights is faulty: position lights, brake lights, rear fog lights, turn indicators, number plate light and daytime running lights (DRL). In some versions the warning lightand a special message appears on
the display.
BRAKE PAD WEAR (for versions/markets where provided) The warning light comes on (in some versions a special message also appears on the display) when the front brake pads are worn. In this case, have them replaced as soon as possible.
FUEL RESERVE

The warning light comes on when there is approximately 7 litres of fuel left in the tank.

WARNING If the warning light flashes while driving, this indicates that a fault has occurred in the system.

In this case, contact an authorised Fiat Service Center to have the system checked.

CAUTION

25) The presence of water in the fuel supply system may cause serious damage to the injection system and, as a result, irregular engine operation. If the warning light comes on (in some versions a message will also appear on the display), contact an authorised Fiat Service Center as soon as possible to drain the water from the fuel filter. If this type of message appears immediately after refuelling, water has probably entered the fuel tank: in this case, switch off the engine immediately and contact an authorised Fiat Service Center.

Warning light Meaning
iTPMS SYSTEM (for versions/markets where provided)

Insufficient tyre pressure: The warning light stays on steadily to indicate that the pressure in a tyre is lower than the recommended value, in order to ensure the best possible tyre life and optimum fuel consumption, or to signal a slow pressure loss. In this way the iTPMS system warns the driver of a possible pressure drop in one or more tyres, and therefore a possible puncture. In this case, it is recommended that the correct tyre pressure be restored. Once normal driving conditions have been restored, carry out the reset procedure.

WARNING Do not continue driving with one or more punctured tyres, as driving the vehicle is dangerous. Stop the vehicle, avoiding sudden braking and steering.

iTPMS system fault / iTPMS system temporarily disabled: The warning light flashes for approximately 75 seconds, then stays on steadily (a special message also appears on the display) to indicate that the system is temporarily disabled or faulty. The system works correctly again when the operating conditions allow it; if not, carry out the tyre reset procedure once normal operating conditions have been restored. If the malfunction warning persists, contact an authorised Fiat Service Center as soon as possible.

REAR FOG LIGHT

The warning light comes on when the rear fog light is switched on.
