Warning light Meaning
UNFASTENED SEAT BELTS

This warning light comes on when the vehicle is stationary and the driver's seat belt is not fastened.

This warning light flashes and an audible signal (buzzer) sounds when the vehicle is moving and the front seat belts are not properly fastened.

To permanently disable the audible signal (buzzer) of the S.B.R. (Seat Belt Reminder) system, contact an authorised Fiat dealer. In some versions the system can be reactivated via the settings menu.

OPEN DOORS/BONNET/BOOT LID

This warning light comes on (in some versions a corresponding message appears on the display) when one or more doors, the bonnet or the boot lid are not properly closed. When the vehicle is moving and a door is open, an audible signal sounds.

LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL/PARKING BRAKE ON

When the key is turned to the MAR (ON) position, the warning light comes on but should go off after a few seconds.

Insufficient brake fluid: this warning light comes on when the brake fluid level is below the minimum level mark, which may indicate a brake fluid leak. In some versions a specific message also appears on the display.

Parking brake on

This warning light comes on when the parking brake is applied. If the vehicle is moving, a corresponding audible signal also sounds.

WARNING If this light comes on while driving, check that the parking brake is not applied.

CAUTION

44) If warning light
comes on while driving, stop the vehicle immediately and contact an authorised Fiat dealer.

Warning light Meaning
EBD FAULT

Simultaneous illumination of warning lights(red) and
(yellow-orange) with the engine running indicates a fault in the EBD system or that the system is unavailable. In this case, the rear wheels may lock during sudden braking, with a risk of skidding. In some versions a specific message also appears on the display. Drive the vehicle with great care and contact an authorised Fiat dealer immediately to have the system checked.

AIRBAG FAULT

When the key is turned to the MAR (ON) position, the warning light comes on but should go off after a few seconds. If the warning light stays on, there is a fault in the airbag system. In some versions a specific message also appears on the display.

MINIMUM ENGINE OIL LEVEL (for versions/markets where provided)

When the key is turned to the MAR (ON) position, the warning light comes on but should go off after a few seconds. The warning light comes on when the engine oil level drops below the minimum permitted level. Top up the engine oil to the correct level. In some versions a specific message also appears on the display.

CAUTION

45) If warning light does not come on
when the key is turned to the MAR (ON) position, or comes on while driving, there may be a fault in the safety systems; in this case the airbags or pretensioners may not deploy in a collision or, in a limited number of cases, may deploy incorrectly. Contact an authorised Fiat dealer immediately to have the system checked before driving further.

46) Warning light malfunction(indicator lamp off) is signalled by the indicator lamp flashing for more than 4 secondsindicating that the passenger airbag has been
deactivated.

Warning light Meaning
LOW BATTERY CHARGE (for versions/markets where provided). After turning the key in the ignition switch to the MAR position, the indicator lamp comes on, but it should go out immediately after the engine starts (when the engine is idling, a slight delay in the lamp going out is acceptable). If the indicator lamp remains steadily lit or flashes (in some versions a specific message also appears on the display), contact an authorised Fiat dealer.
DUALDRIVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAULT (for versions/markets where provided). After turning the key to the MAR position, the indicator lamp comes on, but it should go out after a few seconds. If the indicator lamp remains on (in some versions together with a specific message on the display), the steering assist may not be working and, although the wheels can still be turned, greater force may be required to turn the steering wheel. In this case, contact an authorised Fiat dealer. In some versions, a specific message also appears on the display.
INSUFFICIENT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE: After turning the key to the MAR position, the indicator lamp comes on, but it should go out immediately after the engine starts.

Insufficient engine oil pressure: the indicator lamp comes on steadily (in some versions a specific message also appears on the display) when the system detects insufficient engine oil pressure.

CAUTION

47) If the indicator lamp comes on while driving (in some versions a message also appears on the display), stop the engine immediately and contact an authorised Fiat dealer.

48) If the indicator lamp comes on, replace the used engine oil as soon as possible and never exceed 500 km from the first illumination of the lamp. Failure to observe the above recommendations may cause serious engine damage and void the warranty. Please note that the illumination of this indicator lamp is not related to the amount of oil in the engine, so when the lamp is flashing, there is absolutely no need to top up the engine with oil.

Warning light Meaning
Used engine oil (Multijet versions with DPF). The indicator lamp flashes, and in some versions a specific message also appears on the display. Depending on the version, the indicator lamp may flash: for 1 minute every 2 hours, or in 3-minute cycles with pauses in which the lamp is off for 5 seconds, until the oil is replaced. After the first warning appears, the indicator lamp will flash as described above each time the engine is started, until the oil is replaced. In some versions, a specific message also appears on the display.

The flashing of the indicator lamp should not be considered a vehicle fault, as it is intended to notify the user that normal use of the vehicle has made it necessary to replace the oil. In some versions, if the oil is not replaced after reaching the second wear threshold, the indicator lamp will also come on in the instrument cluster
and engine operation will be limited to 3000 rpm. If the oil is still not replaced, after reaching the third wear threshold, engine speed will be limited to 1500 rpm to prevent damage.

Engine oil wears out more quickly in the following circumstances:

  • predominantly city driving, which causes the DPF regeneration process to occur more often;
  • driving over short distances that prevent the engine from reaching its correct operating temperature;
  • repeated interruptions of the regeneration process, indicated by the DPF warning lamp coming on.

CAUTION

21) To avoid engine damage, it is recommended that the engine oil be replaced when the indicator lamp is flashing. Contact an authorised Fiat dealer.

Warning light Meaning
ENGINE COOLANT OVERTEMPERATURE

After turning the key to the MAR position, the indicator lamp comes on, but it should go out after a few seconds. This indicator lamp comes on (in some versions a corresponding message also appears on the display) when the engine is overheating.

During normal driving: stop the vehicle, switch off the engine and check that the coolant level in the reservoir is not below the MIN mark. If it is, wait for the engine to cool down, then slowly and carefully unscrew the cap, top up the coolant and check that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the reservoir. Also visually check for any coolant leaks. If the indicator lamp comes on again when the engine is next started, contact an authorised Fiat dealer.

When using the vehicle in particularly demanding conditions (for example, towing a trailer uphill or driving with a fully loaded vehicle): reduce speed and, if the lamp remains on, stop the vehicle. Wait 2 or 3 minutes with the engine running at slightly increased revs to speed up coolant circulation, then switch off the engine. Check that the coolant level is correct, as described above. In some versions, a specific message also appears on the display.

WARNING After very intensive driving, it is recommended not to switch off the engine, but to leave it running at slightly increased revs for a few minutes before switching it off.

"DUALOGIC" GEARBOX FAULT (for versions/markets where provided)

After turning the key to the ON position, the warning light comes on but should go out after a few seconds. The warning light on the instrument cluster flashes (at the same time a special message appears on the display and an audible signal sounds) when a gearbox fault is detected.

In addition, the following messages may appear on the display: limit gear changes, manual mode unavailable, automatic mode unavailable, clutch overheating, press clutch pedal, press brake pedal - start delayed, gear unavailable, manoeuvre not permitted, press brake pedal and repeat manoeuvre, set gear selector lever to neutral (N).

CAUTION

49) In the event of a gearbox fault, contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre as soon as possible to have the system checked.

CAUTION

22) If these messages continue to appear, contact a Fiat Authorised Service Centre.

23) To preserve clutch performance, do not use the accelerator pedal to hold the vehicle stationary (for example when stopped on an uphill road). Clutch overheating may damage the clutch, so use the brake pedal and press the accelerator pedal only when you are ready to move off.
