Closing
Holding the raised engine compartment cover with one hand, remove the prop rod with the other hand. Lower the cover to about 20 cm above the engine compartment and let it drop freely. Then try to lift the cover to check that it is fully closed and not just held by the safety catch.
If it is not fully closed, do not press down on the cover. Lift it and repeat the procedure.
WARNING Always check that the engine compartment cover is properly closed to prevent it from opening while driving.
CAUTION
32) Incorrect positioning of the prop rod may cause the cover to drop suddenly.
33) Lift the engine compartment cover with both hands. Before lifting, make sure the windscreen wipers are not raised. Also, carry out this operation with the vehicle stationary and the handbrake applied.
34) Operations of this type must be carried out only when the vehicle is stationary.
35) For safety reasons, the engine compartment cover must always be securely closed while driving. Always check that it is properly closed and locked. If you notice while driving that the cover is not fully locked, stop immediately and close it correctly.
