The system lets you interact with selected mobile apps without taking your eyes off the road. Voice commands, steering wheel buttons or a quick touch of the touchscreen give you enhanced control over compatible mobile apps. You can also stream your favorite music or podcasts, share your estimated arrival time with friends and stay connected safely.

When you launch an app through the system for the first time, you may be asked to grant certain permissions. You can review and change the permissions you have granted at any time when your vehicle is not moving. We recommend that you check your data plan before using apps through the system, as their use may result in additional charges. We also recommend that you review the app provider's terms and conditions and privacy policy before using their app. Make sure you have an active account for the apps you want to use in the system. Some apps work without setup. Others require you to configure some personal settings before you can use them.

Using Apps on an iOS Device

Select the Applications option for the Features bar.

  1. If your device is connected through USB, turn off Apple CarPlay. See Phone.
  2. Connect your device to a USB port or pair and connect using Bluetooth.
  3. If prompted to turn on CarPlay, select Disable.
  4. Launch the apps on your device that you want to use through SYNC.
  5. Select the app you want to use on the touchscreen.

Using Applications on an Android Device

Select the Applications option for the Features bar.

  1. If your device is connected through USB, turn off Android Auto. See Phone.
  2. Connect your device. See Phone.
  3. Launch the apps on your device that you want to use through SYNC.
  4. Select Find Mobile Apps.
  5. Select the app you want to use on the touchscreen.

Using Mobile Navigation on an Android Device

  1. Connect your device to the USB port.
  2. Turn off Android Auto. See Phone.
  3. Turn on Enable Mobile Apps through USB in the Mobile Apps settings tile.
  4. Select the Apps option on the function bar.
  5. Select the navigation application you want to use on the touchscreen.
