Multi-session discs

~1min read

This is a recording method that allows data to be added immediately (using the Track-At-Once method).

Conventional CDs start with a control subsection called "Lead-in" and end with one called "Lead-out". A multi-session disc is a CD with several sessions, each segment from Lead-in to Lead-out forming one session.

  • CD-Extra: Format that records audio (CD audio data) as tracks in session 1 and data as tracks in session 2.
  • Mixed CD: In this format, data is recorded as track 1 and audio (CD audio data) is recorded as track 2.
