Rear Crankshaft Seal. Removal and Installation

Removal

1. 1
   Remove the following components:

   1. Refer to: Flexplate (303-01A — 1.5 L EcoBoost (118 kW/160 L hp) — I4, Removal and Installation).
   2. Refer to: Oil Pan (303-01A — 1.5 L EcoBoost (118 kW/160 L hp) — I4, Removal and Installation).

   Remove the bolts and the rear crankshaft seal.

   

Installation

1. 1
   1. Align the rear crankshaft oil seal and the crankshaft alignment sleeve, and push the rear crankshaft oil seal onto the crankshaft, without stopping until the seal contacts the cylinder block.
      Torque:
      Stage 1: 1-6: 35 lb-in (4 N·m)
      Stage 2: 1-6: 89 lb-in (10 N·m)

   2. Remove the alignment sleeve.

   Install the following components:

   1. Refer to: Oil Pan (303-01A — 1.5 L EcoBoost (118 kW/160 L hp) — I4, Removal and Installation).
   2. Refer to: Flexplate (303-01A — 1.5 L EcoBoost (118 kW/160 L hp) — I4, Removal and Installation).
