Driver Behavior

Driving is a serious responsibility. Driver behavior, driving environment, and vehicle design affect how well the vehicle performs.

Knowing these factors can help you understand how your vehicle handles and what can be done to avoid many types of crashes, including rollovers.

The most serious injuries and deaths to unbelted occupants can be reduced or prevented by using seat belts. In a rollover crash, an unbelted person is much more likely to die than a person wearing a seat belt. In addition, avoiding excessive speed, sudden or sharp turns, and drunk or aggressive driving can help make trips safer and reduce the possibility of a crash.

Driving Environment

Be prepared to drive in bad weather, at night, or at other times when visibility or traction may be limited, such as on curves, slippery roads, or hilly terrain. Unfamiliar surroundings may also have hidden hazards.
