Opening and Closing the Hood

1. Park the vehicle and apply the parking brake. Pull the hood release handle located in the lower corner below the instrument panel. The front edge of the hood will rise slightly.

2. Standing in front of the vehicle, slide your fingers under the front edge of the hood. Locate the secondary hood latch release lever, which is located in the center, above the emblem.

Push the lever upward to release the safety catch and free the hood.

Lift the hood.

If the hood latch is difficult to release, or if the hood can be opened without pressing the latch release lever, clean and lubricate the latch mechanism.

3. Remove the support rod from its holder by grasping the handle, and insert the end of the rod into the corresponding recess in the hood.

To close the hood, lift it slightly and remove the end of the support rod from the hood recess. Return the rod to its position and insert it into the holder. Lower the hood to about 30 cm above the fender, then release it. Make sure the hood is securely latched.

Do not press down forcefully on the engine cover.

This may damage the cover and other components.
