Accessories and Vehicle Modification
Modifying your vehicle or installing aftermarket equipment not recommended by Honda may reduce its safety. Before installing any accessory on your vehicle, carefully read the information below.
Accessories
Honda dealers offer a wide range of accessories that can personalize your vehicle.
All genuine Honda accessories offered by dealers have been approved by Honda Engineering and are guaranteed to be suitable for installation on your vehicle.
Accessories made by other manufacturers may fit your vehicle, but their characteristics may not meet the required specifications, which can degrade handling and stability.

WARNING
Installing accessories that are not suitable for your vehicle may adversely affect its handling and stability and may cause a serious traffic accident.
When installing accessories or modifying your vehicle, strictly follow the instructions in this Owner's Manual.
Accessories installed on the vehicle, such as a cellular phone, security alarm system, audio system, or others, must not interfere with the vehicle's electronic devices, such as the airbags and the antilock brake system.
Before installing any accessory on your vehicle:
Make sure it does not obstruct your field of vision, block lights, or affect the normal operation of any vehicle system.
Make sure the additional electrical equipment does not overload the vehicle's electrical system (page 471) and does not impair the operation of its systems.
Have the person installing additional electrical equipment on your vehicle coordinate with your Honda dealer.
If possible, have your Honda dealer check the quality of the accessory installation on your vehicle.
Do not install any accessories on the side pillars or in the area of the rear side windows, as they will prevent the side airbags from deploying properly in a crash.
Vehicle Modification
Removing or modifying equipment, or using parts not approved by Honda, may seriously degrade the handling, stability, reliability, and safety of your vehicle.
Some examples are:
Do not reduce the ground clearance of your vehicle by using suspension components not designed for it, as this may cause the vehicle to strike an obstacle or road irregularity unexpectedly, which may cause the airbags to deploy suddenly.
Do not increase the ground clearance by using suspension components not designed for your vehicle either, as this may degrade vehicle handling, cause loss of directional stability, and lead to a subsequent accident.
Do not install wheels not recommended by Honda, as this may cause excessive stress in the suspension components.
Do not install wheels and tires of sizes different from the standard wheels and tires, as otherwise the antilock brake system and certain other vehicle systems may not function properly.
Do not modify the steering wheel, other steering system components, or any other devices or systems on which your vehicle's safety depends.
