For vehicles equipped with the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
• Advanced seat belt pretensioners for the driver and front passenger (page 32).
• Sensors that respond to medium and high-severity frontal and side impacts, as well as vehicle rollover.
• Sensors that monitor whether the driver and front passenger seat belts are fastened.
• An "intelligent" electronic system that continuously monitors and records information from the sensors, the airbag system electronic control unit, the airbag inflators, the standard and advanced (if equipped) seat belt pretensioners, and the seat belt use by the driver and passenger when the ignition is switched on.
• A warning indicator on the instrument panel that warns of problems with the airbags, sensors, or seat belt pretensioners.
• This indicator also warns of a malfunction of the advanced seat belt pretensioners.
• The rollover sensor, which detects the risk of vehicle rollover, commands the control unit to activate both side airbags and the front seat belt pretensioners.
• An independent backup power supply designed to back up the main vehicle electrical system in case it fails as a result of an accident.
