Opening and Closing the Hood

1. Stop the vehicle and apply the parking brake. Pull the hood release handle located at the lower corner below the instrument panel. The edge of the hood will rise slightly.

2. Standing in front of the vehicle, slide your fingers between the hood and the grille. Locate the hood safety latch handle located above the "H" emblem. Push the handle up to release the latch and free the hood. Lift the hood.

If the hood latch is difficult to release, or if the hood can be opened without pressing the latch release lever, clean and lubricate the latch mechanism.

3. Holding the handle, pull the support rod out of its holder. Insert the end of the rod into the hole in the hood marked with an arrow.

To close the hood, lift it slightly and remove the end of the support rod from the hole in the hood. Place the rod back in position and insert it into the holder.

Lower the hood to a height of approximately 30 cm above the fender, then release it. Make sure the hood is securely latched.

For vehicles with a diesel engine: Do not press hard on the engine cover.

This may damage the cover and other components.
