PCV System Diagram
1 – generator;
2 – PCV valve;
3 – air chamber;
4 – large hose;
5 – air intake duct.
The PCV valve is controlled by the vacuum created in the intake manifold while the engine is running.
At idle speed, the valve is slightly open, so a small amount of crankcase gases is routed to the resonance chamber and subsequently burned in the engine cylinders.
As engine speed increases, the valve opening increases, so a greater amount of crankcase gases is routed to the resonance chamber and subsequently burned in the engine cylinders.
