Check the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system.
- When the FCA is not operating properly, the FCA indicator light (
) will illuminate and a warning message will appear for a few seconds. After the message disappears, the master warning light (
) will illuminate. In this case, have the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. - The FCA warning message may appear together with the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) indicator light.
Both the FCA indicator light and the warning message will disappear once the ESC light problem is resolved.
WARNING
- The FCA is only a supplementary system for driver convenience. It is the driver's responsibility to control the vehicle. Do not rely only on the FCA system. Instead, maintain a safe braking distance and press the brake pedal as necessary to reduce speed or stop the vehicle.
- In some cases and under certain driving conditions, the FCA system may activate prematurely. This initial warning message appears on the LCD display with a warning chime. Also, due to perception limitations in certain situations, the front camera recognition system may fail to detect a vehicle ahead. The FCA system may not activate, and a warning message may not be displayed.
- If there is a malfunction in the FCA system, the Forward Collision Warning and Collision-Avoidance Assist system will not apply, although the braking system operates normally.
- If the vehicle ahead suddenly stops, you may have less braking control over your vehicle. Therefore, always maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
- The FCA system may activate during braking, and the vehicle may stop suddenly, causing unsecured items to move toward the passengers. Always secure loose items.
- The FCA system may not activate if the driver presses the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
- Braking control may be insufficient, which may result in a collision if the vehicle ahead stops suddenly. Always exercise extreme caution.
- The FCA system may not activate depending on road conditions, adverse weather conditions, driving conditions, or traffic conditions.
- Passengers may be injured if the vehicle stops suddenly due to the activated FCA system. Be extremely careful.
- The FCA system does not detect all vehicles.
WARNING
- The FCA system only detects vehicles in front of the vehicle.
- The FCA system does not operate when the vehicle is moving in reverse.
- The FCA system is not designed to detect other objects on the road, such as animals.
- The FCA system does not detect vehicles in the oncoming lane.
- The FCA system does not detect approaching vehicles crossing the path of the vehicle.
- The FCA system cannot detect a vehicle parked at the side of the road (for example, in a dead end).
In these cases, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, or stop the vehicle.
