Checking the Engine Oil Level

1. Follow all oil manufacturer precautions.

2. Make sure the vehicle is on level ground in P (Park) with the parking brake applied. If possible, block the wheels.

3. Start the engine and let it run until it reaches normal operating temperature.

4. Turn off the engine and wait five minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil pan.

5. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it fully.

7. If the level is at or near L, add enough oil to bring the level up to F.

Use only the specified engine oil.

NOTICE

To avoid engine damage:

  • Do not overfill the engine oil. Add oil in small amounts and recheck the level to make sure the engine is not overfilled.
  • Do not spill engine oil when adding or replacing engine oil. Use a funnel to prevent oil from spilling onto engine components. Wipe up any spilled oil immediately.

Engine Oil and Filter Inspection

Engine oil and filter replacement must be performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer according to the Maintenance Schedule at the beginning of this chapter.
