Wipers
Blade Inspection
Contamination of the windshield or wiper blades with foreign substances can reduce the wiper performance. Common sources of contamination are insects, tree sap, and hot wax treatments applied at some commercial car washes. If the blades do not wipe properly, clean both the windshield and the blades with a clean cloth dampened with washer fluid.
NOTICE
To avoid damaging the wiper blades, wiper arms, or other components, do not:
- Use gasoline, kerosene, paint thinner, or other solvents on or near the blades.
- Attempt to move the wipers by hand.
- Use wiper blades other than those specified.
Information
Commercial hot waxes applied at automatic car washes may make it difficult to clean the windshield.
Blade Replacement
When the wipers no longer clean adequately, the blades may be worn or cracked and must be replaced.
NOTICE
- To avoid damaging the hood and wiper arms, raise the wiper arms only to the upper service position.
- Always return the wiper arms to the windshield before driving.
NOTICE
Using wiper blades other than those specified may cause wiper malfunction and failure.
Wiper Service Position

This vehicle has a "hidden" wiper design. This means the wipers cannot be raised when they are in the lower rest position.
1. Within 20 seconds after turning off the engine, raise and hold the wiper lever in the MIST position for about 2 seconds, until the wipers move to the upper service position.
2. In this position, the wiper arms can be lifted off the windshield.
3. Carefully lower the wiper arms onto the windshield.
4. Turn the ignition ON and turn the wipers to return them to the lower rest position.
