Description

BSD is a system that measures the speed and distance of following vehicles using two radar sensors attached to the rear bumper and detects any vehicle in the blind spot and issues an alert (visual and audible).
  • Blind Spot Detection (BSD): Detects other vehicles in the BSD zone and illuminates the BSD warning light for the driver. The warning light starts flashing when the driver turns on the turn signal to change lanes toward another approaching vehicle.
  • Lane Change Assist (LCA): Detects approaching vehicles at high speed in the BSD zone and illuminates the BSD warning light for the driver. The warning light starts flashing when the driver turns on the turn signal without recognizing any suddenly approaching vehicle in that direction.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA): When the vehicle is in reverse, RCTA generates an alert to warn of other vehicles approaching from the rear and sides.
System Operating Mode
  1. When the engine is started with the switch in the OFF position, the OFF mode is activated.
  2. When the ON switch is pressed in OFF mode, the passive mode is activated.
  3. If the engine is started with the switch on, the passive mode is activated. ? When the ignition is on, the switch is in its initial state: the last position is retained.
    A. If IGN OFF > ON with the switch on, the switch is on.
    B. If IGN OFF > ON with the switch off, the switch is off.
  4. If the engine is started with BSD on, or if BSD is turned on with the ignition off, the outside mirror warning light continues to flash for 2-3 seconds. This informs the driver that the BSD system is ready. (If the system is in Fail mode, there is no flashing.)
  5. If the activation conditions (speed and radius of curvature) are met during driving, the active mode is activated (warning is issued).
  6. If the activation conditions (speed and radius of curvature) are not met during driving, the passive mode is activated (warning is canceled).
  7. If the BSD and LCA operation fails in any mode, Fail mode is activated.
  8. If the BSD and LCA operations work normally in Fail mode, OFF mode is activated.
  9. When the OFF switch is pressed while the BSD and LCA functions are operating (active/passive), OFF mode is activated.
  10. Warning Zone
  11. BSD Warning Activation ConditionsThe entire body of the target vehicle is behind line A.A part of the target vehicle crosses line B.Some part of the target vehicle crosses line D and hysteresis In.The entire part of the target vehicle passes line E and hysteresis In.
  12. BSD Warning Deactivation ConditionsThe entire body of the target vehicle moves behind line B.The entire body of the target vehicle moves ahead of line A.The entire body of the target vehicle passes line D and hysteresis Out.The entire part of the target vehicle passes line E and hysteresis Out.
  13. LCA Warning Activation ConditionsThe entire body of the target vehicle is in front of line B.Any part of the target vehicle crosses line C.Any part of the target vehicle crosses line D and hysteresis In.The entire part of the target vehicle passes line E and hysteresis In.Under all of the above conditions, TTC (time to collision) is 4.5 s or more.
  14. LCA Warning Deactivation ConditionsThe entire body of the target vehicle is in front of line B.The entire body of the target vehicle crosses line C.The entire body of the target vehicle passes line D and hysteresis Out.The entire body of the target vehicle passes line E and hysteresis Out.Under all of the above conditions, TTC (time to collision) is more than 4.5 s.
  15. Sensor Activation ConditionsBSD and LCA switch (indicated by the switch LED) is ON.Vehicle speed: 30 km/h or fasterRadius of curvature: 170 m or moreRelative vehicle speed: -15 ~ 255 km/h ("-" means the vehicle ahead is being overtaken)
  16. Sensor Deactivation ConditionsBSD and LCA switch (indicated by the switch LED) is OFF.Vehicle speed: 28 km/h or lowerRadius of curvature: 125 m or lessRelative vehicle speed: All except -15 ~ 255 km/h ("-" means the vehicle ahead is being overtaken)
  17. System Control ProhibitionRadar blocked by debris: System status - Blockage warning is displayed
If snow, dirt, or stickers obstruct the sensor on the rear bumper, its detection performance may deteriorate.
Radar installation damaged by external impact: DTC is storedBSD and LCA system malfunction: DTC is storedRadar overheated: System status - Overheat warning is displayed.
  18. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
    Item Specification Notes
    Vehicle Speed 0 to -10 km/h R position
    Time to collision 4 ~ 36 km/h +: closing
    Operating Zone 0.5 to 20 m Vehicle: 20 m
    Bicycle: 15 m

This function helps the driver check other vehicles approaching from the rear or from the side when the driver reverses toward a vehicle parked ahead. The warning is issued for a vehicle within 2 seconds based on time to collision (TTC), and a person is excluded from warning (warning may not be issued).
Time to collision (TTC): The warning is issued when the calculated time to collision is between 2 and 3.5 seconds, based on the calculation of relative distance/relative speed (may vary depending on the relative speed of the approaching vehicle).
The warning zone is as follows.
