Inspection

  • Carefully check the connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, wear, or damage.
Power Supply Circuit Inspection
  1. Disconnect the inhibitor switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the engine OFF.
  3. Measure the voltage between the power supply and ground in the inhibitor circuit.

    Specification: Approx. 12V

  4. Connect the inhibitor switch connector.
  5. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the engine OFF.
  6. Measure the voltage between each terminal and the chassis ground while shifting the shift lever from P to R, N, and D.

Specification: Refer to the "Signal Code Table" below.

    Signal Code Table
    ? P P-R R P-R N N-D D
    Signal "1" 12V 12V 0 0 0 0 0

Removal

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the brake connector (A) and remove the shift cable by removing the nut (B).
  3. Remove the manual control lever (B) after removing the nut (A).
  4. Remove the park/neutral position switch assembly by removing the bolts (C).

Installation

  1. Install the park/neutral position switch. When installing, tighten the bolts loosely to fix the inhibitor switch assembly (A) so that adjustment can be made as necessary.
  2. Install the manual control lever (A).
  3. Tighten the nut (B) to the specified torque.

    Tightening torque: 16.7 ~ 26 N·m

  4. After installing the manual control lever (A) in the "N" position, install the SST (09480-A3800) or a 0.1969 in (5 mm) bolt.
  5. Tighten the bolts (A) to the specified torque.

    Tightening torque: 9.8 ~ 11.8 N·m

  6. Remove the stainless steel bolt (09480-A3800) or 0.1969 in (5 mm) bolt.
  7. Install the shift cable and tighten the nut (A).
  8. Connect the park/neutral position switch connector (B).

    Tightening torque: 12.7 - 15.7 N·m

Before tightening the nut, adjust the shift cable. (Refer to Automatic Transmission Control System - "Shift Cable")
  9. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
