Loosen the guide rod bolt (B) and swing the caliper aside.
Do not loosen the bridge bolt (A) instead of the guide bolt (B).
Remove the pad shim (B), pad retainers (C), and brake pads (B) from the caliper bracket (A).
Loosen the hose union bolt (B) and caliper mounting bolts (C), then remove the rear caliper assembly (A). Tightening torque: Brake hose to caliper (C): 24.5 ~ 29 N·m Caliper assembly to steering knuckle (A): 78.5 ~ 98 N·m
Remove the rear brake disc (A) by loosening the screws.
Replacement
Loosen the guide rod bolt (B) and swing the caliper aside.
Do not loosen the bolt bridge (A) instead of the guide bolt (B).
Replace the pad shim (B), pad retainers (C), and brake pads (B) in the caliper bracket (A).
Inspection
Rear brake disc thickness inspection
Inspect the brake pads for wear and discoloration.
Inspect the brake disc for damage and cracks.
Remove all rust and contaminants from the surface, and measure the disc thickness at 5 mm from the outer edge, as shown in the illustration below. Standard: 13 mm (0.5118 in.) Service limit: 11.4 mm (0.4488 in.) Deviation: less than 0.005 mm (0.0002 in.)If wear exceeds the limit, replace the discs and pads as a set on both the left and right sides of the vehicle.
Check pad wear. Measure the pad thickness and replace the pads if they are less than the specified value. Pad thickness Standard: 10 mm (0.3937 in.) Maximum wear limit: 8.0 mm (0.3149 in.)
Make sure grease is applied to the sliding contact points, and check the abutment and backing plate for damage.
The pad wear indicator and brake disc produce squealing noise when the brake pads wear below the service limit of 2.0 mm.
Position a dial indicator approximately 5 mm (0.2 in.) from the outer edge of the brake disc and measure the disc runout.
Brake disc runout Limit: 0.025 mm (0.00098 in.)
If brake disc runout exceeds the limit, replace the disc, then measure the runout again.
If runout exceeds the specification, install the brake disc rotated 180°, then inspect the brake disc runout again.
If runout cannot be corrected by changing the brake disc position, replace the brake disc.
