Seat Belt Warning
Driver Seat Belt Warning (1)
As a reminder to the driver, the seat belt warning light flashes for about 6 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned to ON, regardless of whether the belt is fastened or not.
If the driver's seat belt is not fastened after the ignition switch has been turned to ON, the warning light stays on until the belt is fastened.
If the seat belt is still not fastened and the vehicle travels above 9 km/h, the illuminated warning light starts flashing until the speed drops below 6 km/h.
If the seat belt is not fastened and the vehicle exceeds 20 km/h, the seat belt warning buzzer sounds for about 100 seconds and the warning light flashes (if equipped).
Front Passenger Seat Belt Warning (2)
As a reminder to the passenger, the front passenger seat belt warning light flashes for about 6 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned to ON, regardless of whether the belt is fastened or not.
If the front passenger does not fasten the seat belt when the ignition switch is turned to ON, or unfastens the belt after the switch has been turned to ON, the warning light stays on until the belt is fastened.
If the seat belt is still not fastened and the vehicle travels above 9 km/h, the illuminated warning light starts flashing until the speed drops below 6 km/h.
If the seat belt is not fastened and the vehicle exceeds 20 km/h, the seat belt warning buzzer sounds for about 100 seconds and the warning light flashes.
NOTE
- The front passenger seat belt warning light is located on the center control panel.
- Even if the front passenger seat is unoccupied, the seat belt warning light flashes or stays on for 6 seconds.
- The front passenger seat belt warning light may activate if luggage is placed on the front passenger seat.
- Sitting in an incorrect position adversely affects the front passenger warning system.
It is important that the driver informs the passengers about the correct positioning instructions contained in this manual.

Rear (if equipped)
If the ignition switch is turned to ON (engine not running) while the rear lap/shoulder belt is not fastened, the warning light stays on until the belt is fastened.
The rear seat belt warning light will then illuminate for approximately 35 seconds if one of the following conditions occurs:
- The engine is started while the rear seat belt is not fastened.
- The vehicle travels above 9 km/h while the rear seat belt is not fastened.
- The rear seat belt is unfastened while the vehicle is traveling above 20 km/h.
If the rear seat belt is fastened, the warning light turns off immediately.
If the rear seat belt is unfastened while the vehicle is traveling above 20 km/h, the warning light flashes and the warning buzzer sounds for 35 seconds.
However, if the rear lap/shoulder belt is fastened and unfastened twice within 9 seconds after it was first fastened, the related warning light will not operate.
