Cruise Control Operation

1. CRUISE indicator

2. Cruise set indicator

The electronic speed control lets you drive at approximately 30 km/h without pressing the accelerator pedal.

WARNING Observe the following precautions: - If left on (CRUISE indicator light on in the cluster), the cruise control may engage accidentally. To avoid setting a speed unintentionally, keep the cruise control off (CRUISE indicator light off) when not in use. - Use cruise control only on uncongested highways and in good weather conditions. - Do not use cruise control when it may not be safe to maintain a constant speed: - When driving in heavy or variable traffic. - On slippery roads (wet, icy, or snow-covered). - On winding or hilly roads. - In very windy areas.

NOTE

- During normal operation of this system, when the SET switch is activated or reactivated after the brakes have been applied, the cruise control will become operational after approximately 3 seconds. This delay is normal.

- The brake pedal must be pressed at least once to activate the cruise control after turning the ignition switch to LOCK or starting the engine. This checks whether the brake switch, which is an important part for cancelling the cruise control, is in normal condition.

Cruise control switch

CANCEL: Cancels cruise control operation.

: Turns the electronic cruise control on or off.

RES+: Resumes or increases the electronic cruise control speed.

SET-: Sets or decreases the electronic cruise control speed.

To set the cruise speed

1. To activate the system, press the cruise control button on the steering wheel. The CRUISE indicator light comes on.

2. Accelerate to the desired speed, which must be above 30 km/h.

NOTE - Manual transmission

On vehicles with a manual transmission, the brake pedal must be pressed at least once to set the cruise control after starting the engine.

3. Press and release the SET- switch once the desired speed is reached. The SET indicator light will come on in the instrument cluster. At the same time, release the accelerator. The desired speed will be maintained automatically.

The vehicle may slow down going uphill, and may accelerate slightly going downhill.

To increase the set cruise speed

Use one of the following procedures:

- Press and hold the +SET switch. The vehicle will accelerate. Release the switch at the desired speed.

- Press and release the +RES switch immediately. The cruise speed increases by 2 km/h each time the +RES switch is operated this way.

To decrease the set cruise speed

Use one of the following procedures:

- Press and hold the SET- switch. The vehicle will decelerate gradually.

Release the switch at the speed you want to maintain.

- Press and release the SET- switch immediately. The cruise speed decreases by 2 km/h each time the SET- switch is operated this way.

To accelerate temporarily while cruise control is active

If you want to accelerate temporarily while cruise control is active, press the accelerator pedal. The increased speed will not interfere with the cruise control operation, nor will it change the set speed.

To return to the set speed, release the accelerator pedal.

The electronic cruise control is cancelled when:

- The brake pedal is pressed.

- The clutch pedal is pressed on vehicles with a manual transmission.

- The selector is moved to N (Neutral) on vehicles with an automatic transmission.

- The CANCEL button on the steering wheel is pressed.

- The vehicle slows down to a speed of 20 km/h below the stored speed.

- The vehicle speed drops below approximately 30 km/h.

NOTE

Each of the above actions cancels cruise control (the SET indicator on the instrument panel goes out), but pressing only the () button turns the system off.

To resume cruise control operation, press the RES+ switch on the steering wheel. The previously set speed is restored, unless the system was switched off with the () cruise control button.

Per ripristinare la velocità di crociera

To resume cruise speed

If the cruise control has been cancelled in any way other than the CRUISE ON-OFF switch and the system is still active, the last set speed can be automatically restored by pressing the +RES switch.

However, it will not be restored if the vehicle speed has dropped below approximately 30 km/h.

To turn off the cruise control

- Press the cruise controlbutton.

- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

Both of these actions cancel the cruise control. If you want to resume cruise control operation, repeat the steps listed under "To set the cruise speed" on the previous page.
