Driving Your Vehicle

sport mode

~1min read

Whether the vehicle is stationary or moving, sport mode is selected by moving the shift lever from D (Drive) to the manual control position. To return to D (Drive), move the shift lever back to the main gate.

In sport mode, moving the shift lever forward and backward allows you to select the desired gear for the current driving conditions.

+ Up (+): Push the lever forward once to shift to the next higher gear.

- Down (-): Pull the lever back once to shift to the next lower gear.

Intelligent

  • Only six forward gears can be selected. To drive in reverse or park, move the shift lever to R (Reverse) or P (Park) as required.
  • The transmission downshifts automatically when the vehicle decelerates. When the vehicle stops, 1st gear is engaged automatically.
  • When engine speed approaches the red zone, the shift points change to higher speeds.
  • If the driver moves the shift lever to the + (up) or - (down) position, the transmission may not carry out the requested gear change if the next gear is not within the permitted engine speed range. The driver should shift to a higher gear depending on road conditions, trying to keep engine speed below the Red Zone.
When accelerating from a standstill on a slippery road, move the shift lever forward to the + (High) position. The transmission will then shift to 2nd gear, which is preferable for driving on slippery roads. Push the lever toward - (Low) to return to 1st gear.
