Checking the Brake/Clutch Fluid Level

Check the fluid level in the reservoir regularly. The fluid level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir.

Before removing the reservoir cap and adding brake/clutch fluid, thoroughly clean the area around the cap to prevent any contamination of the fluid.

If the level is low, adjust the fluid level to the MAX mark. The level drops as mileage accumulates. This is normal and is related to brake pad wear. If the fluid level is too low, it is recommended that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Use only the recommended brake/clutch fluid. (Refer to "Recommended Lubricants and Capacities" in Chapter 8.)

Never mix different types of fluid.

WARNING

Loss of Brake Fluid

If the brake system requires frequent fluid replenishment, it is recommended that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Intelligent

Before removing the brake fluid reservoir cap, read the information above carefully.

WARNING

Clean the cap before removing it. Use only brake fluid DOT3 or DOT4 from a sealed container.

WARNING

Brake/Clutch Fluid

When changing and adding brake fluid/clutch fluid, handle it carefully. Avoid contact with eyes. If brake/clutch fluid gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with fresh water. Have your eyes checked by a doctor as soon as possible.

NOTICE

Do not allow brake fluid/clutch fluid to contact vehicle paint, as it may damage the paint.

Brake fluid/clutch fluid that has been exposed to ambient air for a period of time should never be used, as its quality cannot be guaranteed. It must be stored properly. Do not add fluid of an incorrect type. A few drops of mineral oil, such as engine oil, in the brake/clutch system can damage components of this system.
