System Operation
Ventilation
1. Set the mode to
position.
2. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
Heating
1. Set the mode to
position.
2. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
5. If dehumidified heating is required, turn the air conditioning system on.
• If the windshield fogs up, set the mode to
or
position.
Operating Tips
- To protect against dust or unpleasant odors entering the vehicle through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to the recirculation position. Be sure to return the control to the fresh air position when the irritation has passed, to keep fresh air in the vehicle. This will help keep the driver alert and comfortable.
- To prevent interior windshield fogging, set the air intake control to the fresh air position and the fan speed to the desired level, turn on the air conditioning system, and adjust the temperature control to the desired temperature.
Air Conditioning
HYUNDAI air conditioning systems are filled with R-134a or R-1234yf refrigerant.
1. Start the engine. Press the A/C button.
2. Set the mode to
position.
3. Set the outside air or recirculated air control to the desired position.
4. Adjust the fan speed and temperature control to maintain maximum comfort.
Information
Your vehicle is charged with R-134a or R-1234yf according to the regulations in your country at the time of manufacture. You can determine which air conditioning refrigerant is used in your vehicle from the label located inside the hood. Refer to Chapter 8 for the location of the air conditioning refrigerant label.
NOTICE
- The refrigerant system must be serviced only by trained and certified technicians to ensure correct and safe operation.
- The refrigerant system must be serviced in a well-ventilated area.
- The air conditioning evaporator (cooling coil) must never be repaired or replaced on a vehicle that has been used or scrapped. A new replacement MAC evaporator must be certified (and marked) as conforming to SAE Standard J2842.
NOTICE
- When using the air conditioning system, watch the temperature gauge carefully, especially when driving up hills or in heavy traffic when outside temperatures are high. Operating the air conditioning system may cause the engine to overheat. Continue to use the fan, but turn the air conditioning system off if the temperature gauge indicates engine overheating.
- When operating the air conditioning in humid weather with the windows open, water droplets may form inside the vehicle. Since excessive water droplets may damage electrical equipment, the air conditioning should only be used with the windows closed.
Air Conditioning System Operation Tips
- If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight in hot weather, open the windows briefly to allow hot air to escape from the vehicle.
- After the vehicle has cooled sufficiently, switch back from recirculated air to fresh air position.
- To reduce humidity inside the windows on rainy or humid days, reduce humidity inside the vehicle using the air conditioning system with the windows and sunroof closed.
- Operate the air conditioning system for a few minutes every month to ensure maximum system performance.
- If the air conditioning is used excessively, the difference between the outside air temperature and the windshield temperature may cause the outer surface of the windshield to fog up, resulting in poor visibility. In this case, set the mode selection button to the position and set the fan speed control knob to the lowest speed.
