Ignition Key

WARNING

To reduce the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH, observe the following precautions:

  • NEVER allow children or anyone unfamiliar with the vehicle to touch the ignition switch or related parts. An unexpected and sudden vehicle movement may occur.
  • NEVER reach for the steering wheel, ignition switch, or any other control while the vehicle is moving. Having your hand or arm in this area may cause loss of vehicle control, resulting in an accident.

Whenever the driver's door is opened, the indicator light will illuminate if the ignition switch is not in the ON position. The light turns off immediately after the ignition is turned on, or goes off approximately 30 seconds after the door is closed. (if equipped)

WARNING

NEVER turn the ignition key to the LOCK or ACC position while the vehicle is moving, except in an emergency. This will turn the engine off and cause loss of power to the steering and brake systems. This may result in loss of steering and braking control, which may lead to an accident.

Before leaving the driver's seat, always check that the shift lever is in P (Park), apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position.

Unexpected vehicle movement may occur if these precautions are not followed.
