Always attach the chains between the vehicle and the trailer.

Route the safety chains under the trailer tongue so that the trailer tongue does not drop to the road if it separates from the trailer.

Instructions for using safety chains may be provided by the manufacturer of the towing device or trailer. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for installing safety chains. Always leave enough slack to be able to turn with the trailer. Never let the safety chains drag on the ground.
