Automatic Defog System on Models with Automatic Temperature Control (if equipped)

The automatic defogging system helps reduce the possibility of fogging on the inside of the windshield by automatically detecting moisture on the inside of the windshield.

The automatic defogging system operates when the heater or air conditioner is turned on.

Information

The automatic defog system may not operate normally when the outside temperature is below 14°F (10°C).

When the automatic defogging system is operating, the indicator will illuminate.

If increased humidity is detected in the vehicle, the automatic defog system will be activated. The following steps will be performed automatically:

Step 1) The air conditioner turns on.
Step 2) Air intake control changes to fresh air mode.
Step 3) The mode changes from defrost to direct airflow to the windshield.
Step 4) The blower speed is set to MAX.

If the air conditioner is turned off or the recirculation mode is selected manually while the automatic defog system is on, the Automatic Defog System indicator will flash 3 times to signal that the manual operation has been canceled.

Press and hold the windshield defroster button for 3 seconds with the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop button in the ON position. When the Auto Defog System is turned off, the ADS OFF symbol will flash 3 times, and ADS OFF will be displayed on the information screen.

When the automatic defog system is on, the ADS OFF symbol will flash 6 times without a signal.

  • To maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the automatic defogging system, do not select recirculation mode while the system is operating.
  • When the automatic defog system is operating, blower speed adjustment, temperature adjustment, and air intake selection controls are disabled.

NOTICE

Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper end of the windshield glass.

Damage to system components may occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
