Neither the wheels nor the transmission are engaged.

Use N (Neutral) if you need to restart the engine after it has stalled, or if you need to stop the engine while it is running. Place the shift lever in P (Park) if you need to exit the vehicle.

Always depress the brake pedal when shifting from N (Neutral) into another gear.

WARNING

Do not shift while your foot is not firmly pressing the brake pedal. Shifting at high engine speeds may cause sudden acceleration. You risk losing control of the vehicle and striking people or objects.
