VSM Operation

~1min read

VSM Activation

The VSM is active in the following cases:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is activated.
  • The vehicle speed is approximately 15 km/h on a winding road.
  • The vehicle speed is approximately 20 km/h on a bumpy road when braking.

During operation

When braking under conditions that may activate ESC, you may hear brake noise or feel a vibration in the brake pedal. This behavior is completely normal and indicates that your VSM is activated.

Information

The VSM is not active under the following conditions:

  • Driving on steep or sharply inclined roads.
  • You are driving in reverse.
  • The ESC OFF indicator is on.
  • EPS (Electric Power Steering) warning lamp ( ) is on.

Turning Off the VSM

To deactivate VSM, press the ESC OFF button. The ESC OFF () indicator light comes on.

To reactivate the VSM, press the ESC OFF button again. The ESC OFF indicator turns off.

WARNING

If the ESC warning lamp ( ) or EPS ( ) warning lamp remains on, this may indicate a malfunction in the VSM system. If this warning lamp illuminates, we recommend having your vehicle serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.

NOTICE

Using tires of different sizes and types may cause the ESC system to malfunction. Be sure to replace the tires with ones of the same size as the original tires.
