Brake/Clutch Fluid

~1min read

Check Brake Fluid / Clutch Fluid Level

Check the fluid level in the reservoir regularly. The fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the side of the reservoir.

Before removing the reservoir cap and adding brake fluid / clutch fluid, thoroughly clean the area around the cap to prevent contamination of the brake fluid / clutch fluid.

If the fluid level is low, add fluid up to the MAX mark. The level will naturally become lower as the brake/clutch pads wear. This is normal. If the fluid level is too low, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Information

Use only the specified brake fluid. (See the "Recommended Lubricants and Capacities" section in Chapter 8.)

Never mix different types of fluid.

WARNING

If the brake/clutch system requires frequent fluid additions, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

NOTICE

Before removing the brake/clutch fluid reservoir cap, read the warning attached to it.

WARNING

Clean the cap before removing it. Use only DOT3 or DOT4 brake/clutch fluid from a sealed container.

WARNING

Use caution when replacing or adding brake fluid. Avoid any contact with the eyes. If brake/clutch fluid gets into the eyes, rinse the affected area thoroughly with plenty of water. Consult an eye doctor as soon as possible.

WARNING

Do not allow brake/clutch fluid to contact painted surfaces, as it will damage them. Never use brake/clutch fluid that has been exposed to air for a long time, as its quality can no longer be guaranteed. It must be disposed of properly. Do not use fluid of an unsuitable type.

A few drops of mineral oil, such as engine oil, in the brake system can damage its components.
