Fuses

~2min read

The vehicle's electrical system is protected from electrical overloads by fuses.

This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels: one is located in the kick panel on the driver's side, and one or two others are located in the engine compartment, near the battery.

If a light, accessory, or control in your vehicle does not work, check the fuse for the corresponding circuit. If a fuse has blown, the component inside it may also have melted.

If the electrical system does not work, first check the fuse panel on the driver's side.

Before replacing a blown fuse, disconnect the negative battery cable.

Always replace a blown fuse with a fuse of the same rating. If the new fuse blows again, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the faulty system and contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer immediately.

Information

Three types of fuses are used: low-amperage blade fuses, cartridge fuses, and self-resetting fuses for high currents.

WARNING

Fuse Replacement

  • Always replace a fuse with one of the same rating.
  • A fuse with too high a rating may cause damage and a risk of fire.
  • Never use wire or aluminum foil in place of a fuse, even temporarily. You may seriously damage the wiring and cause a fire.

WARNING

Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove a fuse. You may cause a short circuit and damage the system.

NOTICE

The actual label on the fuse/relay panel may differ from the one shown.

WARNING

  • When replacing a fuse or relay, make sure the new fuse or relay is installed correctly. If it is not properly seated, you risk damaging the wiring and electrical system of the vehicle and causing a fire.
  • Do not remove fuses, relays, terminals, screws, or nuts. They may be loosely secured and create a fire hazard. If fuses, relays, or terminals secured by screws or nuts need to be replaced, contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • Fuse/relay terminals are designed only to hold fuses or relays. If you insert a screwdriver or wires, for example, you risk creating a poor connection, which may cause system malfunction.
