WARNING
Automotive fuel is highly flammable and explosive. Failure to observe the following may result in SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH:
- Read and follow all warnings posted at the filling station.
- Before refueling, locate the fuel cut-off switch, if equipped at the fuel station.
- Before touching the fuel nozzle, eliminate any potential static electricity buildup by touching a metal part of the vehicle away from the fuel filler neck, nozzle, or other source of fuel vapor with bare hands.
- Do not use mobile phones while refueling. Electrical current and/or electronic interference from cell phones may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
- Do not get back into the vehicle after refueling has started. Static electricity may build up when you touch, rub, or slide against any object or fabric that can generate static electricity. A static discharge may ignite fuel vapor and cause a fire. If you need to get back into the vehicle, discharge any potential static electricity by touching a metal part of the vehicle, away from the fuel filler neck, nozzle, or other fuel source, with bare hands before reaching for the fuel nozzle again.
- When using an approved portable fuel container, always place the container on the ground before refueling. A static discharge from the container may ignite fuel vapor and cause a fire. After refueling has started, bare-hand contact with the vehicle must be maintained until refueling is completed.
- Use only approved portable plastic fuel containers designed for transporting and storing fuel.
- When refueling, always shift the transmission to P (Park), apply the parking brake, and press the Engine Start/Stop button to OFF. Sparks produced by the engine's electrical components may ignite fuel vapor and cause a fire.
- Do not use matches or a lighter, do not smoke, and do not leave a lit cigarette in the vehicle at the fuel station, especially during refueling.
- Do not overfill or top off the fuel tank, as this may cause a spill.
- If a fire occurs during refueling, leave the vehicle immediately, contact the station attendant at once, and then contact the local fire department. Follow all safety instructions they provide.
- If pressurized fuel sprays out, it may cover your clothing or skin and thus expose you to the risk of fire and burns. Always remove the fuel filler cap carefully and slowly. If the cap releases fuel or you hear a hissing sound, wait until the sound stops before fully removing the cap.
- Always check that the fuel filler cap is securely installed to prevent fuel spillage in the event of an accident.
Information
Always refuel your vehicle in accordance with the fuel requirements described in Chapter 1.
NOTICE
- Do not spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Any type of fuel spilled on painted surfaces may damage the paint.
- If the fuel filler cap needs to be replaced, use only a genuine HYUNDAI cap or an equivalent cap specified for your vehicle. An incorrect fuel filler cap may cause serious fuel system malfunction or emission control system failure.
