Inspecting Automatic Transmission Fluid Level
The automatic transmission fluid level should be checked regularly.
Park the vehicle on a level surface, apply the parking brake, and check the fluid level in the following order.
1. Move the selector lever to the "N" (Neutral) position and make sure the engine is running at idle.
2. After the transaxle has warmed up sufficiently (fluid temperature reaches 70~80 °C), which takes approximately 10 minutes of normal driving, move the selector lever through each position and then return it to the "N (Neutral)" or "P (Park)" position.

3. Make sure the fluid level is within the "HOT" range on the dipstick. If the level is below the required range, add the specified fluid through the filler hole. If the level is above the required range, drain some fluid through the drain hole.
4. If the fluid level is checked when the transaxle is cold (fluid temperature 20~30 °C), add fluid up to the "C (COLD)" mark on the dipstick, then recheck the level as described in step 2 above.
WARNING
- Automatic transmission fluid
Check the fluid level when the engine is at normal operating temperature. This means the engine, radiator, radiator hose, exhaust system components, etc. will be very hot. Use extreme caution to avoid burns when performing this operation.
Red color is not an indicator of automatic transmission fluid quality and does not remain during operation. During vehicle operation, automatic transmission fluid begins to darken. Over time, the color may become light brown.
Therefore, automatic transmission fluid replacement must be performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer in accordance with the maintenance schedule given at the beginning of this section.
Use only the recommended automatic transmission fluid. (Refer to "Recommended Lubricants and Capacities" in Section 8).
