Periodic maintenance items
Engine Oil and Oil Filter
Replace the engine oil and oil filter at the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule. Replace them more frequently when the vehicle is operated under severe conditions.
Drive belts
Inspect all drive belts for cuts, cracks, excessive wear or oil contamination. Replace them if necessary.
Periodically inspect drive belt tension and adjust it if necessary.
fuel filter
A clogged fuel filter may limit vehicle speed, cause emission control system malfunction and make engine starting difficult.
If excessive contamination accumulates in the fuel tank, the fuel filter may need to be replaced more frequently.
After installing a new filter, let the engine run for several minutes and check the connections for leaks. The fuel filter must be installed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
fuel lines, flexible hoses and connections
Inspect the fuel lines, flexible hoses and connections for leaks and damage. Any damaged or leaking part must be replaced immediately by a qualified technician.
Fuel Tank Vent Hose and Fuel Filler Cap
Inspect the fuel tank vent hose and fuel filler cap at the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule. Make sure the fuel tank vent hose or fuel filler cap has been replaced properly.
Vacuum and Crankcase Ventilation Hoses (if equipped)
Inspect the surface of flexible hoses for signs of heat and/or mechanical damage. Signs of deterioration include hardening or brittleness of the rubber, cracks, tears, cuts, abrasion damage and excessive swelling.
Pay particular attention to hoses located near strong heat sources, such as the exhaust manifold.
Inspect the hoses along their entire length to make sure they do not contact any heat source, sharp edges or moving parts, which could cause heat damage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections (clamps, fittings, etc.) to make sure they are secure and free of leaks. If any sign of wear, aging or damage is found, replace the hoses immediately.
Air Cleaner Filter Element
When replacing, it is recommended to use the genuine filter element supplied by HYUNDAI.
spark plugs
Make sure the heat range of the installed spark plugs meets the specified requirements.
valve clearance
Check if there is excessive valve noise and/or engine vibration, and adjust if necessary. This operation must be performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
cooling system
Inspect the engine cooling system components, such as the radiator, coolant reservoir, flexible hoses and connections, for leaks and damage. Replace any damaged parts.
engine coolant
Replace the engine coolant at the interval specified in the maintenance schedule.
Manual transaxle fluid (if equipped)
Check the condition of the manual transaxle fluid in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
Automatic transaxle fluid (if equipped)
The automatic transaxle fluid level must be within the "HOT" range of the dipstick after the engine and transaxle have warmed up to normal operating temperature. Check the automatic transaxle fluid level with the engine running, the automatic transaxle selector lever in the N (Neutral) position, and the parking brake properly applied.
brake lines and hoses
Visually check for proper installation, chafing, cracks, wear and any leaks. Replace any damaged or worn parts immediately.
brake fluid
Check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir.
The level must be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use only brake fluid meeting DOT 3 or DOT 4 specifications.
parking brake
Check the condition of the parking brake, including the parking brake lever and its cables.
Disc brake pads, calipers and discs
Check the brake pads for excessive wear, the discs for runout and wear, and the calipers for brake fluid leakage.
Suspension mounting bolts
Check the suspension component mounting points for loose bolts or damage.
Tighten threaded connections to the specified torque.
Steering gear housing, boots and tie rod ends / lower arm ball joint
With the vehicle stationary and the engine off, check the steering wheel for excessive play.
Check the steering linkage for deformation and damage. Check the condition of the boots and ball joints for wear, cracks or damage. Replace any damaged parts.
Power steering pump, belt and hoses
Check the power steering pump and hoses for leaks and damage.
Replace any damaged or leaking parts immediately. Check the power steering pump drive belt for cracks, fraying, excessive wear, oil contamination and proper tension. Replace or adjust if necessary.
Drive shafts and boots
Check the drive shafts, boots and clamps for cracks, wear or damage.
Replace any damaged parts and repack the joints with grease if necessary.
Air conditioning refrigerant (if equipped)
Check the air conditioning lines and connections for leaks and damage.
