ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS — GASOLINE ENGINE (IF EQUIPPED)

~1min read

A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission and axles) in your vehicle.

Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the first 60 miles (100 km), it is preferable to limit speed to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h km/h).

During break-in, brief full-throttle acceleration within local traffic regulations helps the engine seat properly. Avoid wide-open throttle acceleration in a low gear, as it may be harmful.

The engine oil filled at the factory is a high-quality energy-conserving type of lubricant. Oil changes must be made according to the expected climatic conditions in which the vehicle will be operated. Refer to the recommended viscosity grade and quality.

NOTE:

A new engine may consume some oil during the first few thousand miles (kilometers) of operation. This should be considered a normal part of break-in and is not an indication of a problem.
