SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

Front/Rear Axle Fluid

~1min read

For normal service, periodic fluid level checks are not required. When the vehicle is serviced for other reasons, the external surfaces of the axle assembly should be inspected. If a gear oil leak is suspected, check the fluid level.

Fluid Level Check

The lubricant should be approximately 1/8 inch (3 mm) below the lower edge of the oil filler hole.

NOTE:

Make sure the vehicle is level and supported on its axles.

Adding Fluid

Add lubricant only through the filler hole and only up to the level specified above.

Lubricant Selection

Use only fluid recommended by FCA.
