Hood Closing

~1min read

1. Before closing the hood, check the following:

  • All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
  • Gloves, rags, or any other flammable materials must be removed from the engine compartment.

2. Lower the hood to approximately 12 inches (30 cm) above the closed position and let it drop. Make sure it latches in place.

3. Make sure the hood is properly latched. If the hood can be lifted slightly, it is not latched correctly. Open it again and close it with slightly more force.

WARNING! Hood Latch

Before closing the hood, make sure that all obstacles are removed from the hood opening. Closing the hood with an obstacle in the hood opening may result in property damage.

WARNING. Fire Hazard.

Do not leave gloves, rags, or any other flammable materials in the engine compartment. Doing so may result in a fire.

WARNING! Unlatched Hood

Always check twice to make sure the hood is securely latched before driving. If it is not latched, the hood may open while the vehicle is moving, causing a complete loss of visibility, which may lead to an accident.
